WHO AM I AND WHY AM I DOING THIS
My name is Jim Isard I am 63 years and
at present I am working as a self employed driving
instructor. I was born
in Reigate Surrey, as was my father. I have not moved far in that
time and only left Reigate in 1996 after living there for 51 years. I then moved
five miles down the road. My father was born in Reigate and lived their all his
life.
I started tracing my family tree in 1989 after finding some birth and marriage certificates. As I have always been interested in history it intrigued me where I came from.
I set out to find all about my branch of the family. Since then I
have branched out to include anyone with the name of Isard. There
are two basic families one from Sussex which is my branch and
another from Kent. To date I have found no connections between
them.
Its start at Croydon about 1680 this is furthest back I have
traced. I would love to find out from where they came from before
this, It could be Hertfordshire as there are a lot of Izards
living there, but why did they move south? Hopefully one day I
may find out.
Also some people think it intrusive but all the documents are
deposited in the public domain. It may seem strange to some
people, that all through their lives they keep their affairs
private but as soon as they die items like their wills are made
public for everyone to see.
In two hundred years time we will all be dead and forgotten but
hopefully someone will have kept my records and they can read
about us and see how we lived and what we did.
I am also tracing the family history
of my paternal grandmother Sarah Carberry from Somerset
and my Mums line STAUNTON from Islaneady Mayo Eire.
I am a member of the following FH Societies, Sussex Famly History Group, North West Kent FHS, East Surrey FHS. Guild of One-Name Studies.
